When I found out I was having a second son I decided almost immediately that I was going to do the lil man mustache/tie 1st birthday party that I was seeing in the blogosphere!!! I had been collecting ideas and mustache items as well as ties for months before the party! I even had a newborn photo taken of him in a tie to use for the party (I'm crazy, I know) I had SUCH a great time putting this party together for my lil man!
I really wanted a bold color pallet. I LOVE lime green and teal and thought adding red with a black background would make for some fun!
Our guest's were greeted by this wreath that I made out of a pool noodle, yarn and an old men's shirt and a kids tie!
Of course the birthday boy needed a shirt, so I used a stencil and created this one for him!
I provided soda and juice for beverages and I made these adorable mustache straws. And I always have to create a fun water bottle label. I got a little green this time by just taking off the existing labels and flipping them around to show the white side. I then glued the lil labels I created.
We served mini manwiches, italian pasta salad, deviled eggs, man dip (chili, cream cheese and cheddar cheese...delish) chips and salsa, mini caprese skewers, veggie cups, and watermelon.
On my fun chalkboard fridge I displayed the birthday boy's monthly photos. You can see full sizes HERE
(don't mind my fridge it could use a fresh coat of chalkboard paint) I stuck them to the fridge with mustache magnets I made as well!
Since the party was the day before Father's Day I decided to do a favor for the dad's as well as the kids!! The dad's got Hershey Chocolate Bars and the kids got mustache crayons (made by yours truly), a mustache comb by Cowboy Combs
, and a fun coloring page that I created, it even had a photo of the the birthday boy to be colored!
The "containers' are just security envelopes sealed, cut and folded with a tie glued under the "collar".
I put some pics of Griffin up under his name banner on the hutch. I also made some cute mustache/circle garland to hang vertical and give some color to the cutout.
I also put out faux 'staches and ties as well as instructions for tying a tie... A Griffin knot. (don't mind the smudged up frame) Using what I had.. I thought to use the side of the crib we just took off of lil D's bed as a tie rack.
And what is a party without dessert? Not a party at all...haha. Here is the sweets setup. The cupcake stand is made up of some boxes I had laying around that I wrapped with paper and/or fabric. The mustache chocolates, cake, and cupcakes were all made by me!
When it was time for the smash cake we moved the table off of the green backdrop and I lowered the mustache/tie garland and the Mr Griffin name sign to get some cute shots.
